Soft liners for dentures.
A soft liner adds a pliable layer between a denture base and the tissues of your mouth. It may help selected patients who have difficulty tolerating a hard fitting surface.
When a liner may help
Your dentist first examines sore areas, the denture’s fit, and the underlying tissues. Tender gums or pressure points do not always mean a soft liner is appropriate; the cause needs attention.
New and existing dentures
A liner may be incorporated into a new denture or added to a suitable existing one. Materials differ, and some are intended for temporary use. Ask about expected maintenance and replacement rather than assuming a liner is permanent.
Cleaning and follow-up
Follow the instructions for your particular material. Cleaning methods that suit a hard denture may damage a soft surface. Return for fit checks and contact the office about persistent soreness, odor, damage, or changes in the liner.
